DOLLS THAT NEVER WERE: Pajama Bash Giftset Dolls

In 2004, Mattel had plans to launch a new wave of Mary-Kate and Ashley dolls, including a second pajama-themed gift set. This set, tentatively titled Pajama Bash, was poised for production and would have been the second of its kind in the doll line. However, when Mary-Kate and Ashley took full control of their company, Dualstar, they bought out their partners and rebranded both the company and themselves as the faces of over 52 product categories. As a result, the Pajama Bash set, along with other planned releases, was ultimately canceled.

The dolls were so far along in the development process that they had already been advertised in their books and even made available for purchase online in the Australia section of mary-kateandashley.com in August 2004, before being pulled from production.
