On The Red Carpet: October 2002
In September 2002, the mary-kateandashley brand officially announced its partnership with Target Australia, expanding its reach following successful launches in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
As part of this collaboration, a new set of exclusive dolls was introduced, available only at Target stores. Until this point, exclusive mary-kateandashley dolls had been limited to Walmart locations in the U.S.
Each doll, sold separately, was dressed in the same outfits Mary-Kate and Ashley wore to the Rush Hour 2 film premiere in August 2001. The dolls also included a collector's card, along with chip art featuring an award and a premiere-themed design.
INTERESTING FACTS
- These were the most affordable dolls in the mary-kateandashley line, originally retailing for $7.99, whereas comparable dolls were priced at $13 USD.
