At The Beach: March 2002
Following the success of the Walmart fashion line since its debut the previous year, Dualstar, Mattel, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen partnered to release a new Walmart-exclusive doll, aimed at cross-promoting their upcoming summer collection and the launch of the Mary-Kate and Ashley Magazine. The dolls came equipped with a range of accessories, including a beach chair, towel, water bottle, sunglasses, bathing suit, sandals, a Chip Art magazine, and a Chip Art surfboard.
INTERESTING FACTS
- This doll marked the second of five Walmart-exclusive releases. Many of the Walmart-exclusive dolls are considered rare and difficult to find, contributing to their increased value today compared to the mass-produced dolls widely available at other retailers.
- Although there was no commercial for this release, the dolls were prominently featured in the Walmart Weekly Ad as part of a "Special Buy" promotion.
